Welcome back from President’s Day Weekend! There were a lot of college games in the last week, and we have decided to celebrate the Tenacity Alumnae playing in the NCAA or WCLA with the help of submissions from parents, fans, and players themselves. Please keep sending pictures, captions, and school posts this spring season to firstname.lastname@example.org.
This past week was very successful for Tenacity alumnae with freshmen getting their first minutes, first points, and first days in their college jerseys. Over one or two games for their teams, Tenacity women scored a total of 34 goals, had 11 assists, and made 64 saves! A couple of key matchups pitted Tenacity alumnae in all grad years against former teammates and coaches, and that will continue throughout the season in dozens of high school and college games.
Anna Barton (Tenacity Bay Area 19Blue), a walk-on-player for North Carolina, scored her first two collegiate goals. UC Davis faced off against California in a match up with sixteen Tenacity Alumnae rostered between the two teams. UC Davis won the game 9-6 with Kate Graham (BearLax ’16) netting a goal and both Kaley Stunz (Tenacity Sacramento ’17) and Mia Lawrence (Bay Area ’19) picking up an assist.
The week’s marquee matchup was a game between Duke and Navy. Despite a five-point effort from The Blue Devils’ Catriona Barry (Bay Area ’17), Navy pulled out the one-goal win behind Abbi Young (Bay Area ‘18), and her ten saves in the goal for the Midshipmen.
The one NCAA Division III contest with Tenacity alumnae players competing was Pomona-Pitzer’s game against University of Redlands. Caroline Worthington scored a hat trick, and Tenacity Alumnae Ellie Kruse (Portland ’18), Lilly Keville (Bay Area ’19), and Georgia Scott (Bay Area ’19) all contributed minutes.
Shout out to players whose defensive stats are not always reflected on the score sheets. Keep hustling, keep making stops, and win your ground balls.
